Install StreamGen in your Snowflake account
Awaiting Snowflake approval. The StreamGen Native App is built and tested in Snowflake; its listing is in Snowflake’s review. Get in touch to hear when it’s available or to join early access.
StreamGen runs as a Snowflake Native App inside your own account. Your data, the apps it builds and StreamGen’s own database all stay there. Your people sign in with their Snowflake login.
What you need
- A paid Snowflake account (Snowflake doesn’t run apps with containers on trial accounts), in a region where Snowflake supports them.
- Someone with the ACCOUNTADMIN role to install it and grant what it asks for.
- A StreamGen licence key, from streamgen.io. A licence works in one Snowflake account.
How installing works
- Buy a licence. Your key arrives by email.
- Get StreamGen from its Snowflake listing and install it. Snowflake shows the privileges StreamGen asks for: a small compute pool and warehouse of its own, a database for the apps it deploys, and permission to run scheduled reports.
- Let StreamGen use Cortex (for its AI) and Snowflake’s package mirror.
- Approve the “StreamGen licence and email” connection. StreamGen checks its licence and sends its emails through it. Two more connections are optional: GitHub, and package security checks.
- Start StreamGen and open it. The first person in becomes its admin and enters the licence key. Until then StreamGen does nothing else.
- Decide what StreamGen may do as each user. It never does more than the signed-in user is allowed to, and only what you grant it. The app’s README lists the grants, from read-only to building apps in your schemas.
What it costs besides the licence
StreamGen runs on a small compute pool in your account, and the apps it deploys and the AI it uses (Cortex) run there too. All of it is billed by Snowflake, in your Snowflake bill, like anything else you run. You can suspend StreamGen when nobody needs it.
Updates
New versions arrive through Snowflake. StreamGen moves to them by itself, and your projects and settings stay.
